Ok, I’m booked. What’s next?

Book a consult. Bring your insurance and drivers license.

  • We will get the prior-authorization from your insurance company within 4-6 weeks.

  • We will call you when it's time to contact your pharmacy.

  • You will call your pharmacy and authorize them to ship your Botox to our office.

  • You come in for your injections. You will have a 6 week follow-up after.

  • You will have injections every 12 weeks. We will book your future appointments with you.


What to expect at your appointment:

Your first treatment will take about 20 minutes. The provider uses a very small needle that feels like a pinprick.

Each treatment typically involves 31 injections in seven key areas of the head and neck. The most common side effect from the Botox shots is a sore neck, and we recommend using an ice pack to reduce the discomfort.

It can take two treatments to see the maximum benefit from Botox. In the meantime, you can continue your regular medications with no risk of a drug interaction.


How often do you have to have injections?

We do injections every 12 weeks. You must have a follow-up (in person or televisit) every 6 weeks per insurance regulations.


Does insurance cover injections?

In general, the FDA-recommended dosage of 155 units for each treatment. Because Botox is FDA approved for chronic migraine, it's covered by most plans, including Medicare and Medicaid. Allergan offers a “Botox Savings Card,” which offers patients reduced fees.

Almost all insurance companies will cover Botox for Migraines. If you have any out of pocket expenses after your injections, there is a Botox Savings Program that will reimburse you $1500 per injection date, and up to $4000 per year. Reimbursed expenses often include office and pharmacy copays and anything leftover after your insurance pays.
